For now we've had a relaxing weekend. Swimming in the pool, shopping to spend birthday gift cards, a bike ride for Jeff & Kyle, and painting for the girls and myself. The girls love getting the paints out so so I covered the kitchen table and we got to work. I had a few canvases tucked away in a closet which needed to be used and we decided on a sea life theme for our pictures (Jillian is a tad obsessed with seahorses these days!). She has wanted a stuffed seahorse for a little while now and we found one at the zoo on Friday which was cause for great excitement (Leah was also very happy to come home with a pink baby penguin). For her picture, Jillian decided she wanted to paint Bubbles in her natural habitat under the sea. I love how relaxed the girls are when they are doing artwork/crafts, and how immersed they are in their work. They both have a shared love of all things creative and artsy.
our family is complete and our youngest baby is now 5 years old, so we move forward with babyhood behind us!

a vacation delayed
We are supposed to be at the cottage right now. A few things have delayed our mini vacation, first there's Jillian who is feeling under the weather and is happier right now relaxing on the couch at home. Second, there's no water at the cottage because Jeff was up there on Saturday doing some serious power washing on the deck and cottage siding...who knew running a power washer for 8 hours would empty a well? At least the cottage and deck look amazing now. Our well should be replenished soon enough so we will continue with our vacation later in the week.

And here are the end results of our hard work...seahorse, yellow fish and jellyfish by Jillian, starfish and whale by Leah, piranha by Kyle (he joined in once they returned from mountain biking) and octopus by yours truly.

I love their artwork...will it be framed/hung somewhere?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Jillian was quite proud of her seahorse painting. She sketched it out with pencil all by herself beforehand (using her stuffed seahorse as a guide) and painted it in the same colours.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll be able to find a place for our little sealife exhibit :-) I'm thinking on a wall in either the kids bathroom or the basement bathroom which is virtually empty and needs something.
I was thinking that they'd be cute at the cottage!
