I had a wonderful Mother's Day. How could I not? I have three amazing kids and a husband who makes me feel special. This Mother's Day as I celebrated with my own children and my Mom & Dad I also thought about all the other amazing moms in my life. These are the women who make this motherhood journey so much easier, the friends both near and far who are sounding board and cheerleaders, who offer help, great ideas and even the "me too" that always helps (who wants to be the only mom who yells at her kids or who has kids who don't listen?). We connect in person at the school for quick chats, we talk while our kids are doing gymnastics, we talk on the phone, we use an online message board and facebook. Sometimes we even get to go out for dinner (and end up spending most of the evening talking about our kids!).
I know moms who are pregnant, moms who have given birth, and those who did not but are still blessed to be called mommy. I know children who are celebrating this year without their mom, and a very special mom who is fighting with every breath to spend more time with her boys. All of these moms were on my mind this past Sunday as I celebrated with my own family.
Happy Mother's Day to all of my friends and family. To my own mom who helped me be the person I am today. To my sister who would love a full night of sleep (someday Noah will sleep through the night Chris!). And most of all to my three children who made me a mom. I may get tired some days of hearing "mama I need help" but I never take for granted being called mommy.
