it's a good thing she's cute!

Leah has decided recently she does not want to nap anymore. She used to LOVE naps, as difficult as she was at bedtime she was a dream at naptime. However, on the weekend I decided she had kept the soother long enough (longer than her big brother and sister had theirs). I cut the tip off, and we went through the whole "it's broken" thing I did with the other 2 kids. Without the soother Leah has decided she does.not.want.to.nap. And that worked out okay for a few days, she managed ok enough, went to bed early. But yesterday the lack of naps over these days resulted in a late afternoon/early evening nap. Which led to a very late bedtime of midnight.

And then in true Leah fashion she was up several times..2am, 4am, and 5am. By 5am Jillian woke up with the noises and came into Leah's room, so now it was playtime for the 2 girls. Yep, we've been up since 5am. The girls fortunately can have a nap later today, which is very unusual for Jillian as she is 5 but I'm sure she'll need one to get through the day since tonight she has both gymnastics and soccer. I cannot nap since I have to head into work. Thank goodness today is not a schoolday for Jillian and she can just hang out and relax this afternoon.

So for now I just look at Leah's cute face and tell myself sleeping for more than 2 consecutive hours is over-rated, I'm not missing out on anything. Sure it's been about 9 years of this, but there will be a time in the future when no little person will want me around in the middle of the night, no little arms wrapped tightly around my neck. And I will be sad. I'll sleep then.
