Played with paper grocery bags! When I was a little girl I remember cutting up the big brown paper bags groceries used to come in and turning myself into many things like a robot. So when I shopped at the organic store recently and had forgotten to bring my own bags I was almost happy to pay .10/bag for these fun things so the kids could play. And play they did, Leah and Jillian especially loved decorating and wearing them around.
The girls played in the backyard and had a snack out there. Kyle spent this time reading the new book I picked up for him...Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. He loved the Percy Jackson series by the same author, has read the 5 books in that series multiple times and is almost finished the first book of the series in french. So when I saw this book starting a new series I had to pick it up for him and sure enough he's been reading it non-stop ever since. I believe he's on his second pass of the book already! Kyle goes through books quite fast and has exceptionally high reading comprehension which makes him an avid reader. Another book he is working on right now is the Narnia Chronicles, I found the entire 7 books combined into 1 large book on clearance for a great price and he's been getting through those in between this other reading and required school reading. We do use the library a lot as well, espcially in the summer months, we always make it a weekly part of summer vacation.
Then all 3 kids had fun playing with a blanket of all things. They took turns sitting and pulling and were happily occupied for quite some time! This picture really makes me smile because I love love love seeing all 3 kids playing together. It doesn't happen all the time, there's quite an age gap between Kyle and Leah (7 years). But back when we were still on the fence about trying for baby #3 I kept coming back to an image I had in my head of 3 kids playing together. And here they are.
And yes, that is the very messy craft table in the background. We try to keep it tidy but it gets soooo much use by the girls this is often it's state. Like I said though it gets a lot of use which is good. Leah goes over there many times a day to sit and colour, Jillian uses it to make her amazing craft creations and draw really nice pictures.
And then it was into the pool! Here's my fish, he's so comfortable in the water.
And Jillian without her floaties because she is doing an awesome job learning to swim. Each time Jeff does a lesson with her she gets farther and farther. So far she's gone across the whole pool (24 ft) twice.
